Tesla Annual shareholder meeting recap:
Elon Musk’s record-setting pay package has been approved, which could award him up to $1 trillion in Tesla stock. The package could give Musk control of 25% of Tesla if he hits certain milestones and increases the company’s market capitalization to $8.5 trillion over the next 10 years. Its market cap is currently around $1.5 trillion. More here.
Elon told shareholders that by FSD V14.3, you’ll be able to fall asleep and wake up at your destination. Full self-driving, as we’ve long envisioned it, is likely not far away. See the video below.
Tesla is competing with Nvidia through its new AI5 chip. Elon announced at the annual shareholder meeting that the AI5 chip is three times more power-efficient than Nvidia’s Blackwell chip and costs only 10% as much. More here.
Sam Altman says OpenAI has reached $20B in annual recurring revenue (ARR) and has committed $1.4T to data centers over the next eight years. He also stated that he expects ARR to grow to hundreds of billions by 2030. Altman additionally hinted at a new enterprise offering. More here.
Collins Dictionary has selected ‘vibe coding’ as the Word of the Year. Alex Beecroft of Collins stated that this decision “perfectly captures how language is evolving alongside technology.” More here.
The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed by another six months, now set to release in November 2026. While this may not seem like an AI-related story, many expect the game to feature advanced AI systems in its NPCs (non-playable characters), world mechanics, and dynamic mission design. More here.
OpenAI’s CFO, Sarah Friar, suggested that the U.S. government should “backstop” the company’s AI infrastructure investments. Sam Altman later addressed the controversy, clarifying that OpenAI doesn’t have or want government guarantees for its data centers. The Laude Institute has launched its first round of “Slingshot” AI grants, offering researchers funding, computing power, and engineering support to advance artificial intelligence. The institute, dedicated to fostering AI research and innovation, selected fifteen projects primarily focused on AI evaluation. More here.
Anthropic has expanded in Europe with new offices in Paris and Munich. These mark Anthropic’s first offices in France and Germany, bringing their total European hubs to five—alongside London, Dublin, and Zurich. Over the past year, Anthropic has seen a tenfold increase in EMEA business accounts, generating $100K in revenue. More here.
The EU plans to adjust its AI Act to give companies more time—up to a year—to meet transparency and watermarking requirements for generative AI systems. These tweaks aim to make compliance easier amid industry pressure and concerns about stifling innovation. This comes after mounting criticism from tech firms and U.S. officials who argue the law’s strict rules could hinder innovation and strain transatlantic relations. More here.
