Kalshi’s 2x Valuation, Grok 4.1 Praises Elon, AI Movie Recaps, and NotebookLM Product Velocity

Kalshi raised $1 billion at an $11 billion valuation, just two months after securing $300 million at a $5 billion valuation. The move brings it closer to competitor Polymarket, which is in talks to raise at a $12–15 billion valuation. In October, Kalshi also said it hit $50 billion in annualized trading volume up from the $300 million in volume it posted last year. More here.

Perplexity Pro and Max users now have access to Gemini 3 Pro and Kimi-K2 thinking, with Grok 4.1 support on the way. CEO Aravind Srinivas also noted that the Chinese Kimi-K2 model is hosted in U.S. data centers. Pricing for the plans is $20/month for Pro and $200/month for Max. More here.
Grokipedia.com released version 0.2, adding the ability to propose edits. Its new “transparent contribution system” gives instant feedback on whether your edit is approved or rejected, either publishing it immediately or explaining why it didn’t pass. Apps in ChatGPT has now integrated with Shopify, where you can shop directly in the app from brands like Glossier, SpanX, and Skims. Users can describe what they want in plain language and receive a curated list of recommendations, and checkout directly in ChatGPT. More here.
ChatGPT Group Chats are now available to all users after a successful early pilot. The feature allows you to collaborate with up to 20 people and ChatGPT in one chat. More here.
China’s Moonshot AI is raising a new round that will value the company at about $4 billion. Earlier this month, it released its latest open-source model, Kimi K2, which now ranks near the top on LMArena. Moonshot’s backers include Alibaba, Tencent, and Gaorong Capital. More here.
Grok 4.1 launched this week, and a number of commentators notices a tendency to praise its founder/CEO Elon Musk. When one X user asked who was the better athlete, LeBron James or Elon. Grok answered: “While LeBron’s athletic peaks are elite for sport, Elon’s sustained grind — managing rocket launches, EV revolutions… — demands a rarer blend of physical endurance, mental sharpness and adaptability.” Many of these responses were later deleted. Amazon has begun using AI to create video recaps of its shows. Video Recaps are rolling out this week on some shows including Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, The Rig, and Bosch. The AI analyzes the seasons plot, and uses select video clips and AI voiceover to create a ~3 minute summary. How long will it be before we can just ask our TV questions about the content we are watching like “what is that character’s name and what is her relation to the protagonist?” More here.
